Good Morning Primary 2!

Good Morning Everyone!

We hope you all had a lovely evening yesterday.

Literacy Following on from some of your learning yesterday, this morning we are going to focus some more on writing and using sentences.

Yesterday Mrs Williams went out for a walk and saw 2 beautiful butterflies among some flowers. Unfortunately she did not manage to take a photo before they flew off!

Our writing this morning is about the life cycle of a butterfly. (Remember we looked at Sea Turtles last time?). On the link below is the order of the life cycle for you to use. Start with the egg stage and create your writing using these sentence starters.

First        Next      Then      Lastly

Remember capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

Butterfly Life Cycle

Below is a short clip that will help you to better understand the life cycle and give more information should you wish to include it.

Here are 2 examples Mrs Williams has written about sea turtles.

The Sea Turtle Life Cycle

First the adult lays eggs on a beach. Then baby sea turtles are born. Next the baby turtles crawl to the sea. Lastly they grow into adults.

The Sea Turtle Life Cycle

First the adult sea turtle lays eggs in the sand on a beach. Then the eggs hatch and the baby sea turtles are born. Baby sea turtles are called hatchlings. Next the Hatchlings crawl across the sand down to the sea. Lastly the baby sea turtles grow into adults and the cycle begins again.

Maths

The wings of a butterfly are exactly the same pattern on both sides. This is known as symmetry. Use the BBC bitesize page below to learn more about symmetry

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/ztpyr82

Can you draw your own butterfly and show symmetry with it’s wing pattern? You can create your own pattern of symmetry and make it bright and colourful! Post or send in your pictures as we would love to see them and share them!

Have a lovely morning!

From Mrs Williams and Mrs Burn
