Afternoon Activities

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Many of you enjoyed Joe Wicks yesterday, so I thought we would join in again today. Remember these sessions are live at 9am every morning so you can join in even if it is not a recommended activity for that day on the Blog. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4ShRREe26w

Did you know today is Empathy Day? It is celebrated by reading stories to help us understand or feel what another person is experiencing such as sadness. This has never been more important! Below there is a link to the read aloud stories and a story for you to read called ‘The Cinnamon Bun’ by Marcia Williams. Follow up activities: Discuss the stories with someone in your household. Have you shown empathy today or this week? Could you create a short story to teach someone younger than you about empathy?

Marcia Williams – Empathy Short

Yesterday we looked at different music making ‘instruments’. Do you recognise this theme tune? Can you describe what it is they are using to make the different sounds?

Your Music activity for this afternoon: It’s time to get creative with sound! (Please remember to ask for permission before you use any item). First of all, find some household items you think will make interesting sounds. For example, a spoon, water bottle, bubble wrap, paper…

Then, look at the documents below, one is completed for you and the other is blank for you to create your own graphic score. You can play each instrument one at a time but may need to get those in your household involved to play them altogether at the same time.

Challenge: Experiment with the rhythm of each sound and try to make your graphic score as colourful as you can. Utensils Music Worksheet

Have a great afternoon – Let’s get creative primary 3!
