Tuesday morning P4

Good morning Primary 4. I hope you are all ok and ready to do some writing. As it is a new term, we are starting a new genre of writing. Today we are starting with writing an explanation. I have attached a template explaining how to write an explanation and also an example to show you what it might look like.
This week, the explanation I would like you to write is “How to use Glow” Begin with a paragraph saying what Glow is, then try to write 3 more sentences or paragraphs giving facts about using Glow and then finish with a conclusion giving your opinion on using Glow. Try to think of all the things you have learned from the other genres of writing and do your best.
After writing, is handwriting. I have attached a sheet with something called pangrams.
A pangram is a sentence that uses every letter in the alphabet. Try to practise your handwriting using the pangram. If you are feeling creative maybe you could try to make up your own pangram. Remember you have to use every letter in the alphabet at least once!
For maths today, we are continuing with measuring in cm. I have attached  a powerpoint all about measuring. I have also put in mild, spicy and hot sheets.
The hot sheet needs you to know the difference between cm and mm. Remember there are 10mm in 1cm. You have to measure the line and then draw more on to the line to make it up to 15cm then try and convert to mm. The spicy task is to measure the lines and then put them in order from smallest to biggest. If you are choosing the mild task, you have to count the circles to measure the caterpillars then if you have a ruler, measure the caterpillars in cm.
  • Finally this morning, watch newsround. As you are watching try to take notes about what you hear and see using bullet points. Remember bullet points look like a full stop at the beginning of the sentence like I have put at the beginning of this. Each sentence gets a bullet point to keep them separate. When you are taking notes, you try to only write the main points.
