Welcome Back Primary 3

Good Morning Everyone!
We hope you managed to enjoy some of the sunshine and family time during the long weekend. No doubt you’ll be full of beans this morning so have a go at an early morning workout with Jump Start Jonny.

Literacy:

We hope you’ve enjoyed learning about Minibeasts – Here is ‘Centipede’s 100 Shoes’ By Tony Ross.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcPTBfg1H2I

– Can you summarise the key events? How do you think Little Centipede felt when he had so many shoes left over?

– Use the Describing Bubble to create a short text about the Little Centipede. Don’t forget to include punctuation and check over your writing to ensure it makes sense.

Describing Bubble

– Finally, how many Common Words can you read in 100 seconds? Challenge: Can you spell those words correctly?

Numeracy:

– The Little Centipede was very kind and shared all his socks and shoes with his friends. Can you make other combinations of the friends he gave the items to? There were 42 socks and 100 shoes. (Remember different Minibeasts have different numbers of legs!) Write down your working, and share them with your teacher.

– It took the Little Centipede a long time to tie all his laces… How quickly can you tie your laces? Use a stop watch to time yourself. (This might also be good if you find it tricky to tie laces or you are out of practice!) Challenge: Can you estimate how long it would take you to tie 42 shoes?

– Finally, have a go at ‘Centipedes and Centimetres’ on the Minibeast Grid activity sheet.

Have a great morning!

Miss Sandy & Miss Cowan
