Monday Morning with Primary 7 - 11.05.20
Good morning Primary 7 – A slightly new format this week – I’m going to set Numeracy, Literacy & Health& Wellbeing activities every morning followed by different tasks in the afternoon. There are weekly challenges for you from Mrs Piper, Miss Mitchell, the “Genius Hour” projects you are working on as well as a new weekly challenge from INspire. Throughout the week there will be different areas of the curriculum I focus on but you can do them any time. I will continue to send out a weekly timetable along with more detailed daily learning. I hope this is clear – just ask if you aren’t sure, just do what you can in a way that suits you at the moment.
Numeracy –
Sumdog National Competition – use this as a warm up for the West Lothian Competition which starts on Friday – you only get 1000 questions so focus on accuracy rather than speed!
Daily Rigour – Complete the starter activities 1 & 2 in your maths jotter, lay out your working clearly & remember presentation! Or you could try the Daily Rigour number 202 – use your problem solving strategies to have a go yourself then click here for solutions
Wwek 6 – The Daily Rigour 202 Worksheet
Week 6 – Starters – 1 Week 6 – Starters – 2
Number Talks – Have a look at the questions – write your answers down and send them in!
Literacy – Spelling –
New spelling words have been set for you on Sumdog, complete the tasks and choose a spelling strategy to practice your words – are you getting an adult to test you last week’s words like we did in class?
A fun activity to see which words you choose to put into the Harry Potter sentences – do you think you will spell them correctly? Check on spellchecker or use a dictionary – can you make a sensible version and a silly version – the power of words!
Week 6 – Harry-Potter-Mad-Libs
HWB – Have an active start to the week with Joe Wicks or another online workout. Follow this with a look at My World of Work – do you remember which animal you were? There are lots of different jobs and careers to choose from on this site – have an explore and see what suits you best. There are some interesting clips to watch where children got the opportunity to have a go at a career – watch carefully – what did the volunteers learn? Did they make mistakes? What did they do well? Did their actions have an impact on you? Make notes and chat about this with someone at home – the future is in your hands.
