PRIMARY 5/4, Wednesday 20th May, 2020

Good Morning everyone,

What a lovely, sunny morning!  How are you all doing today?  There is another little video message for you on Teams this morning.

Health and Wellbeing:

It’s Well Being Wednesday again! The focus is ‘Give’ and this ties in so well with one of our School Values – ‘Kindness’ – and the theme for Mental Health Awareness Week.  Watch this short film

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qcyc68d6OAk

which shares the message of how we should ‘Give Kindness’, help others and look after our own mental health as well.

Have you tried the latest Knightsridge Primary School Challenge? -re-create the word ‘Kind’ or ‘Kindness’ using objects in your home.

Mrs Kennedy has suggested a really lovely song for us all to listen to, isn’t it good that we can all join in with this even though we can’t all be together at the moment?  Listen to this song and consider and reflect on the beautiful message which is shared:

Here are some other suggestions linked to this song –

  • You could write a poem about ‘Our Wonderful World’?
  • You could create some art or craft linked to this?
  • You could make up alternative lyrics to the song?
  • You could draw illustrations for some of your favourite lines from the song?

Or maybe you have your own ideas?  Share them as we would love to see them please!

Now that we can go out to exercise more than once a day, why not try a game of Walking Bingo with your families (there is an example on Teams). Remember to stay safe and maintain the two metre social distancing guidance. Have fun!

Literacy:

It’s World Bee Day today!  Again, this links with the lyrics in ‘What a wonderful world’.   Bees are such an important part of our wonderful world.   You can find out more about the importance of bees here, in this short clip:

What would a world without bees look like?   Here is an interesting podcast, you could listen to this to learn more.

Read the passage below very carefully and answer the questions which follow.  You can write the answers in your jotter or on paper.  Or, if you prefer you can answer them in your head, without having to write them down.  Maybe you could discuss your answers with someone else in your house, that way you are sharing your learning too!

Here is a Spelling suggestion too – Spelling activities

Numeracy:

You can choose to do some activities on Mathletics or Sumdog today.  Remember the West Lothian Sumdog competition is running at the moment!

Have a fantastic morning and before lunchtime I will post suggestions for this afternoon .
