PRIMARY 5, Thursday 28th May 2020 - here are your morning activities

Good Morning Primary 5,

As always, your suggested learning for today will be on Teams and e-mailed to you too.

Numeracy

  • Let’s start this morning with Number Talks. The mild question is 3 x 6, the spicy question is 3 x 16 and the hot question is 3 x 166. Remember to write down as many different strategies as you can. How many ways can you work out the question. Think about partitioning, repeated addition, are there any doubles in there?
  • You can also go onto Sumdog or Mathletics today.
  • You could complete these calculations in your jotter, if you would prefer – Mixed Multiplication 3

Literacy/Digital Skills:

Do you know how to create a Sway? A Sway is really just a fancy PowerPoint presentation. If you click on the waffle on Glow you will see the icon for Sway. I’ve attached a good website which gives you instructions how to work through it. As with all these things it’s best just to play with it and see what you can do. If you manage to create something, post it or email it.  Create your Sway about anything that interests you, something you would enjoy learning more about and sharing.

Take some time to read today, maybe over lunchtime as every Thursday is the Scottish Book Trust Reading Lunch?  Have you completed a page in your First Minister’s Reading Challenge recently?

Health and Well Being

Read this Adventures_at_home_Online (1) which you may find interesting.  Mrs Kennedy thought you would like it too.  Take some time to read it.  I liked the section about ‘Checking In’ as it links well with our focus this week on ‘Staying CONNECTED’ through talking.  Make sure you ‘Check In’ with your family and friends in this different time for us all.

I also like the ‘Feelings Pointer’ – maybe this is something you could make to help you (or perhaps some younger siblings) explain how you are feeling.  Try and think about any strategies you can use to support yourself, after considering your Emotions, Behaviours and Triggers.  Think about the Emotion Works Cogs.  Here is a PowerPoint presentation for you to look at, to remind you all about Emotion Works.  Emotion Works recap Primary 5 May 2020

If it helps you, you can illustrate/write/take notes.  Or you may prefer to complete some of the activities mentioned in the presentation.

There is also a lovely story here, which you may enjoy, or you could watch or share with younger family members: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIfLgHBwYx4

Enjoy your morning!
