Good morning Primary 2
Literacy
Yesterday, we listened to the story of The Gruffalo and made story sticks (Mrs Williams left her story stick outside overnight so will take a picture once it has dried out a bit!).
Today we have the story of The Gruffalo’s Child for you to listen to, you will find it here.

There are lots of shadows in this story formed by the light of the moon. We will combine literacy today with a bit of science.
Design a Gruffalo shadow puppet. Use either a piece of paper or card (it could be from a food box or packaging, it doesn’t need to be plain) and a light source – a lamp or torch or just the light from the window. Draw the outline and cut out your shape – it doesn’t have to be exactly like the Gruffalo or the Gruffalo’s Child!
Can you remember what creatures the Gruffalo’s child met and in which order? You could cut out shadow puppets for other characters and retell the story with them!
Extra – Do you know how shadows are made? See if you can find out!
Numeracy
Here are the answers to the missing numbers from yesterday
Today
Look at the number patterns on the sheets, copy the pattern and add the next numbers in each sequence.
There is a challenge sheet for those who want to try it!
